I've been a bit busy this last week hence no posts so will be making up for it tonight. Been hammering the gym and working hard, and had a night out on Friday with friends which rendered me useless all day yesterday. Not used to it!
Last Saturday, we weren't massively hungry (turned out that we were actually ill - stomach-related, ick) so I did something simple with the steaks. Mr W had the customary rib eye and I opted for a fillet.
I got some posh pasta from Waitrose a while ago so decided to serve the steak on a bed of pasta with a creamy mushroom sauce.
For the sauce, I chopped onions, garlic, chillies, leeks, parsley and mushrooms and hydrated some dried porcini's for that lovely smoky flavour.
I fried everything together and added the porcini liquer and some double cream at the end. Due to us not being very hungry I just did some broccoli.
It was good but we couldn't finish it and had to cancel our night out for a friend's birthday because we weren't well :( There's been a stomach bug going around so think that must have been it, it certainly wasn't my cooking!!! ;)
About Me
- Feebs
- I'm a thirty something food-loving professional who has decided to write a food blog rather than bore my Facebook friends with my constant food updates and photos. I love food and cooking and wanted to share my recipes and experiences with fellow-minded people. I am no chef but enjoy good, hearty traditional fayre at home and the occasional treat away from home. I am learning all the time and this blog will hopefully see my skills improve over time. It is documenting my progress if you like and giving me some motivation to improve.
