Saturday Steak Night Per Uno

I was in two minds whether to buy a steak just for me but since I've had no meat for several days I thought why not?!  I was quite late going to the butchers due to being at the hairdressers and he only had one piece of fillet left.  I think he was planning to cut it in half but I said it was perfect and only when he told me it was £8 did I realise how big it actually was.  Not to worry, I deserve it ;)

I also popped into the local cup cakery - 'Cake That' - to pick up some cakes for my best friend who was in a horrific car crash on Wednesday evening and had to be cut out of the car, as well as smashing the windscreen with her head :(  Her poor head and face will be scarred for life but she is so optimistic and making light of it.  I don't think I would be!  Anyway I made her some carrot and coriander soup (which I had some of for lunch) and took some pretty cupcakes round to cheer her up. 

I got home and cooked myself an early dinner, fillet steak cooked rare with new potatoes, roasted veg and green beans with a fresh tomato and garlic sauce.  It was nice but not so great without company.  I had the cats around of course and Colin was more than happy to help me out with my mahoosive steak.  Not quite the same though...

I watched The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest and polished off a bottle of Fiano, then got a call from Mr W to tell me he would be home Sunday morning for the night, woo hoo!  Someone to cook Sunday dinner for :)
