About Me

My photo
I'm a thirty something food-loving professional who has decided to write a food blog rather than bore my Facebook friends with my constant food updates and photos. I love food and cooking and wanted to share my recipes and experiences with fellow-minded people. I am no chef but enjoy good, hearty traditional fayre at home and the occasional treat away from home. I am learning all the time and this blog will hopefully see my skills improve over time. It is documenting my progress if you like and giving me some motivation to improve.

Decadent Tuesday

Found some pork fillet in the freezer so thought I'd treat us to a nice Tuesday dinner.  There were two fillets which was quite extravagant but Colin will help us out with the leftovers (for the rest of the week).  I pan fried them until browned then put in the oven for about 25 minutes.

I served with mashed potato, carrots, edamame beans and savoy cabbage, and made a sauce from leeks, shallots, mushrooms (fresh plus dried porcini), stock, dry sherry and cream.  The pork was fabulous, really tender, and the sauce went really well with it (thankfully!).

I'm had soup tonight (from the leftover veg from Sunday plus fresh chicken stock from Sunday), which was unfortunately a little bland, and Mr W is playing football so won't eat until about 10:30pm. I couldn't make the gym tonight, it feels like someone has tried to rip my legs out of the sockets (BLT - should stand for Bloody Leg Torture rather than Bums, Legs and Tums!).

I'll hopefully make it tomorrow as I seem to have gained a little weight of late and don't think it's purely muscle, d'oh... x
